چکیده

Background: Various imaging modalities including EUS (Endoscopic ultrasound), CT abdomen (Computed tomography), MRCP (Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography), and ERCP retrograde cholangiopancreatography) are used for diagnosis of choledocholithiasis. allows direct visualization bile duct through endoscope, it also helps in retrieval stones. On the other hand, is a noninvasive procedure which uses strong magnetic field to visualize hepatobiliary system. In patients with choledocholithiasis calculi appear as dark filling defects within high signal intensity fluid at MRCP. This study compares diagnostic accuracy comparison aims compare sensitivity specificity diagnosing choledocholithiasis.
Methodology: comparative cross-sectional included 170 clinical who presented Liver Center, Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi, during year 2017. Non-probability consecutive sampling technique set established inclusion exclusion criteria was enroll patients. Data collected by self-structured questionnaire. Information about demographic details findings were noted on that analysis done using SPSS 25.
Results: Out patients, 111 (65.29%) females 59 (34.71%) males. The mean age population 45.68 standard deviation (SD) ±12.40. confirmed stones 95 while case 87 true positives, 55 negatives, 20 false 8 negatives cases noted. According these results, 91.6% 73.3% respectively against ERCP. Whereas positive predictive value negative values 81.3 87.3% ERCP.
Conclusion: has compared Although comparatively procedure, but remains modality choice could be instead when there contraindications or no therapeutic role required.
Recommendations: should only needed. Level expertise increased

Sensitivity and Specificity of Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography versus Endoscopic Ultrasonography against Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography in Diagnosing Choledocholithiasis: The Indonesian Experience

BACKGROUND/AIMS Biliary stone disease is one of the most common conditions leading to hospitalization. In addition to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) are required in diagnosing choledocholithiasis. This study aimed to compare the sensitivity and specificity of EUS and MRCP against ERCP...

Choledocholithiasis diagnostics – endoscopic ultrasound or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography?

It is estimated that 3.4% of patients qualified for cholecystectomy due to cholelithiasis have a coexisting choledocholithiasis. For decades, endoscopic ascending retrograde cholangiopancreatography has been the golden diagnostic standard in cases of suspected choledocholithiasis. The method is associated with a relatively high rate of complications, including acute pancreatitis, the incidence ...

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in the treatment of intraoperatively demonstrated choledocholithiasis

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy and complications of postoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in confirming and treating choledocholithiasis found at intraoperative cholangiography during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHODS Patients who had undergone ERCP following a cholecystectomy between 2008 and 2011 with an indication of intra...

Desulfovibrio fairfieldensis bacteremia associated with choledocholithiasis and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

Desulfovibrio fairfieldensis is a gram-negative, curved, motile, anaerobic bacillus. D. fairfieldensis has been isolated only from human specimens and is considered a normal resident of the human gastrointestinal tract. We report the second case of Desulfovibrio bacteremia associated with choledocholithiasis and review the other reported cases of D. fairfieldensis bacteremia.
